Aprendemos juntos, a parar o tempo.

Bia Martins

What is love, if it's not respect, trust, admiration?

Jesse said in Before sunset

In the moment I remember thinking that it didn't much matter the "Who" of it all. Nobody is gonna be everything to you, and that ultimately it's just a simple action of committing yourself, meeting your responsibilities that matters.

Jesse said in Before sunset

I have this idea of my best self, and I wanted to pursue that even
if it might have been overriding my honest self.

Jesse said in Before sunset

I don't have any permanent place here. You know, in eternity, or whatever.
And the more I think that, I can't go through life saying that this is no big deal.
I mean, this is it! This is actually happening.
What do you think is interesting, what do you think is funny, what do you think is important?
You know, every day is our last.

Jesse said in Before sunset

You realize that most of the people that you meet are trying to get somewhere better,
they're trying to make a little bit more cash, trying to get a little more respect,
have more people admire them. It's just exhausting.

Jesse said in Before sunset

Life's hard. It's supposed to be.
If we didn't suffer, we wouldn't learn a thing.

Jesse said in Before sunset

I'm designed to feel slightly dissatisfied.

Jesse said in Before sunset

Celine: I was thinking. For me it's better I don't romanticize things as much anymore.
I was suffering so much all the time.
I still have lots of dreams, but they're not in regard to my love life. It doesn't make me sad, it's just the way it is.

Jesse: Is that why you're in a relationship with somebody who's never around?

Celine: Yes, obviously, I can't deal with the day to day life of a relationship. Yeah, we have, you know, this exciting time together and then he leaves and I miss him, but at least I'm not dying inside. When someone is always around me, I'm like suffocating!

Jesse: No, wait, you just said that you need to love and be loved...

Celine: Yeah, but when I do, it quickly makes me nauseous! It's a disaster. I mean, I'm really happy only when I'm on my own.
Even being alone... it's better than sitting next to a lover and feeling lonely.
It's not so easy for me to be a romantic. You start off that way, and, after you've been screwed over a few times, you... You forget about all your delusional ideas, and you just take what comes into your life. That's not even true, I haven't been screwed over, I've just had too many bla relationship. They weren't mean, they cared for me, but they were no real connection, or excitement. At least, not from my side.

Jesse: God, I'm sorry, is it... Is it really that bad? It's not, right?

Celine: You know? It's not even that, I was... I was fine. Until I read your fucking book! It stirred shit out from you, it reminded me how genuinely romantic I was, how I had so much hope in things and now it's like I don't believe in anything that relates to love, I don't feel things for people anymore. In a way, I put all my romanticism into that one night and I was never able to feel all this again. Like, somehow this night took things away from me and I expressed them to you and you took them with you! It made me feel cold, like if love wasn't for me!

Jesse: I... I don't believe that. I don't believe that.

Celine: You know what? Reality and love are almost contradictory for me.

Conversation between Celine and Jesse in Before sunset

I guess when you're young, you just believe there'll be many people with whom you'll connect with. Later in life you only realize it only happens a few times.

Celine said in before sunset

Celine: But it's my fault, I know that it's my fault, because I never felt it was the right man. Never! But what does it mean the right man? The love of your life? The concept is absurd, the idea that we can only be complete with another person is... EVIL! Right?

Jesse: Can I talk?

Celine: You know, I guess I've been heart broken too many times. And then I recovered. So now, you know, form the starts, I make no effort. Because I know exactly what hap...

Jesse: You can't do that. You can't do that, you can't live your life trying to avoid pain, at the expense of en...

Conversation between Celine and Jesse in Before sunset

And, how can you say that? Because... I mean, I always feel like a freak because I'm never able to move on like... this! You know? People just have an affaire, or even entire relationships. They break up and they forget! They move on like they would have changed a brand of cereals.

I feel I was never able to forget anyone I've been with. Because each person had their own specific qualities. You can never replace anyone. What is lost is lost. Each relationship, when it ends, really damages me, I never fully recover. That's why I'm very careful with getting involved, because it hurts too much. Even getting laid! I actually don't do that. I will miss of the person the most mundane things. Like I'm obsessed with little things.

Maybe I'm crazy, but when I was a little girl, my mom told me that I was always late to school. One day she followed me to see why. I was looking at chestnuts falling from the trees, rolling on the sidewalk, or ants crossing the road, or the way a leaf casts a shadow on a tree trunk... Little things. I think it's the same with people. I see in them little details, so specific to each other, that moved me, and that I miss, and will always miss. You can never replace anyone, because everyone is made of such beautiful specific details.

Celine said in Beforew Sunset

Let me sing you a waltz
Out of nowhere, out of my thoughts
Let me sing you a waltz about this one night stand
You were, for me, that night
Everything I always dreamt of in life but now you're gone
You are far gone
All the way to your island of rain
It was for you just a one night thing
But you were much more to me, just so you know
I don't care what they say
I know what you meant for me that day
I just want another try, I just want another night
Even if it doesn't seem quite right
You meant for me much more than anyone I've met before
One single night with you, little Jesse, is worth a thousand with anybod
I have no bitterness, my sweet
I'll never forget this one night thing
Even tomorrow in other arms, my heart will stay yours until I die
Let me sing you a waltz
Out of nowhere, out of my blues
Let me sing you a waltz about this lovely one night stand

Celine singing for Jesse in Before Sunset

Jesse: In the months leading up to my wedding, I was thinking about you all the time. I mean, even on my way there; I'm in the car, a buddy of mine is driving me downtown and I'm staring out the window, and I think I see you, not far from the church, right? Folding up an umbrella and walking into a deli on the corner of 13th and Broadway. And I thought I was going crazy, but now I think it probably was you.
Celine: I lived on 11th and Broadway.
Jesse: You see?

Conversation between Celine and Jesse in Before sunset

Jesse: i feel like if someone were to touch me, i'd dissolve into molecules.
Celine: so, i want to try something.
Jesse: what?
Celine: [hugs] i want to see if you stay together or if you dissolve into molecules.
Jesse: how am i doing?
Celine: still here.
Jesse: good, i like being here.

Conversation between Celine and Jesse in Before sunset

Yeah, but I had worked for this older man, and once he told me that he had spent all of his life thinking about his career and his work, and... he was 52 and it suddenly struck him that he had never really given anything of himself. His life was for no one, and nothing. He was almost crying saying that. Y'know, I believe if there's any kind of God, it wouldn't be in any of us. Not you, or me... but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, its almost impossible to succeed, but... who cares, really?

Celine said in before sunrise

"But Loving someone, and being loved means so much to me. We always make fun of it and stuff. But isn't everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?"

Celine said in before sunrise

"I want to be alone."

Greta Garbo

Why won't you let me?
Why won't you let me love you?

Alice said in Closer

Alice: I would have loved you… forever. Now, please go.
Dan: Don’t do this, Alice. Please, talk to me.
Alice: I am talking. Fuck off.
Dan: I’m sorry. You misunderstand! I didn’t mean to.
Alice: Yes you did.
Dan: I love you!
Alice: Show me! Where is this love? I can’t see it, I can’t touch it. I can’t feel it. I can hear it. I can hear some words, but I can’t do anything with your easy words. Whatever you say is too late.

Conversation between Alice and Dan in Closer

It's a lie.
It's a bunch of sad strangers photographed beautifully, and... All the glittering assholes who appreciate art say it's beautiful 'cause that's what they wanna see.
But the people in the photos are sad, and alone... But the pictures make the world seem beautiful, so... The exhibition is reassuring which makes it a lie, and everyone loves a big fat lie.
Alice said in Closer

You'll miss me. No one will ever love you as much as i do.
why isn't love enough?

Alice said in Closer

How? How does it work?
How do you this to someone?

Alice said in Closer

Alice: Is it 'cause she's successful?
Dan: No. It's because... she doesn't need me.

Conversation between Alice and Dan in Closer

Alice: Will you hold me?
I amuse you, but i bore you.

Alice said in Closer.

 Alice: I'm waiting for you.
Dan: to do what?
Alice: leave me.

Conversation between Alice and Dan in Closer

Alice: I don't love you anymore.
Goodbye...

Alice said in Closerf

love is an accident...
waiting to happen.

Veneza - Itália

Veneza... Sinônimo de beleza, deslumbre, fascínio, encanto, doçura, mistério... Cidade do AMOR.
